For the fourth year in a row, Chase Custom Homes & Finance has been recognized as one of Hancock Lumber's top builders in the state of Maine! The top customer awards are based on total net sales from the previous year.
Hancock Lumber continues to be our go-to for lumber, wall panels, trusses, windows, kitchens and more. Our relationship with Hancock Lumber is a great example of teamwork and communication between supplier and builder. The Windham Planning Board has given preliminary approval to a a 60-unit retirement community that also includes six roadside commercial units, planned for a former campground site on U.S. Route 302.
The Sunrise Cove development, on Highland Lake, could break ground in the fall if permitting from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection is complete. The environmental review is necessary since development around the lake and high phosphorus levels have caused concern in recent years.
In August, 100 local businesses made the roster of "Best Places to Work in Maine" - the most ever in the annual award program's 14-year history. The Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resources Management sponsors the Best Places awards to recognize companies that have established and consistently fostered outstanding work environments.

John F. Chase, owner & CEO of Chase Custom Homes & Finance in Westbrook, was recognized by the Sebago Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce as Entrepreneur of the Year. John accepted the award, surrounded by colleagues and members of the local business community, at the chamber’s Annual Meeting on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Camp Sunshine in Casco, Maine. The award is in recognition of recent projects and development in the greater Windham and Sebago Lakes Region area. Since establishing Chase Custom Homes in 1986, John has paved the way for land, residential and light commercial development.
His most notable recent projects include the purchase of a 38-acre parcel on Highland Lake for a future residential community and the new Auto Shine Car Wash in Windham. The company is also re-purposing two high visibility commercial properties in Windham and Gray, which will be new child care centers. John continues to find unique ways to rehabilitate properties and develop communities, bringing jobs and needed services to the area.
